I think it is disgusting that you are preventing our children from having coaching in a safe environment. We are parents that would prefer our children to be outside, participating in sports, parents that make an effort to join clubs and provide exercise and team bonding for our children. we work hard to maintain this clubhouse and have working parties to keep the car park and surrounding area clean and tidy. Please let the nets be refurbished so that the children and adults in the community can continue to enjoy their love of participating in cricket.

The councils agrument seems to be that the term 'cricket ground' means the playing area inside the boundary. Surely if that was the intention the term 'cricket pitch' would have been used. To me and hopefully others, 'Cricket Ground' implies the whole property including the pavillion, nets, car park etc.

What is the real reason for our local council approving our planning permission and then holding the club to ransom before works can begin:-
1) Do they really need the parking spaces for commuters
2) Have they given up all our local parking to allow Cross-rail to complete their rail extension
3) Poor budget controls, mean they need to milk a local community club of its facilities and take control of all parking
4) Maybe, forcing members to go to other clubs with better facilities will result in SCC closing and the council could use the grounds for both parking and housing.
Eric Pickles, should take a lead on this farce and commit to helping the local community and the kids and players who use this fantastic club.

Council has to look first health and safety for kids if they are against then what's the point of the rules.

This club is welcoming to youngsters of of all abilities. The members work very hard to provide excellent coaching, encouraging children in a healthy outdoor activity. Our council should support local clubs,such as this one, to provide sporting facilities for our community, not hinder them.

I feel this is a no brainer. Shenfield cc, along with other local cricket clubs,do their best to provide sporting opportunities for local children. Given the sentiment of sport for all & to encourage kids to participate in sporting activities we all (including the councillors that represent us) need to do our/their best to continue this good work. As a council this should be a priority to approve. The need is great and the pain minimal for very few. The nets would appear to be well screened and a good distance from the adjacent residents; they would not affect the visual amenity and would provide a facility which can be used now and in the future.
