This facility is for both young and old to experience and is a very family orientated club. I cannot understand why the council would not support the club as it stands.

I'm not sure how a Stalinist land grab chimes with the principle of encouraging more young people to get involved and stay involved with sport at a local level. Do the wishes of the original land donors count for nothing? Outrageous.

I fail to see why and how council could deny planning permission for renewing and updating an existing cricket net. Cricket is part of our heritage,particularly in Essex. Our youth is the conduit for its continuity and Shenfield Cricket Club provide excellent facilities at their own financial cost thus giving the community an opportunity to partake in this magnificent sport at a club that we in Essex are proud of. Brentwood Borough Council themselves should recognise the importance of up to date safety equipment, surely?

Its disgraceful that the council will use bullying, blackmail, strong arm tactics, call it what you will, of a local sporting club, that provideds great past times for generations.
The club needs replacement nets to carry on training & bringing through its junior members . Its ridiculous that the council would want to deny local youths an outlet for sport & leisure.

We have been members of Shenfield Cricket Club since our boys were 7 and 5. They now play for the adult teams and spend a great deal of time at the club. The current nets are dangerous and must be replaced. Please let this matter be resolved as soon as possible as surely we should be providing a safe facility for all members to enjoy.

It is all too common for cash-strapped councils to take short-term measures that in the long run it and the wider community live to regret. Cricket is a pastime that everyone should be free to enjoy, and strong-arming a club in this bullying way only hurts the people the council is there to serve. It is just poor public policy, so don't do it. Act in haste; repent at leisure. Lift the embargo for the greater good.

As a visiting spectator and a doctor it is a disgrace that tax payers are being bullied by the council. In this age of falling participation in sport it is vital that people are encouraged to keep fit and reduced the physical and mental health issues which result from obesity.

Disgraceful council members should be fired. Disgusting to see they would hold a small cricket club to ransom over some cricket nets. unacceptable. they should be spending there time sorting out local services and massive debts they have not taking on small cricket clubs who help kids get in to sport at young ages and build a community around sport
