We should encourage more youth participation in sport not take their facilities away. This is a shameful attempt to grab land to increase council revenue.

Councillors should visit the cricket club on an evening or at the weekend and see how many of the local community benefit from the nets, despite them being in need of repair. Allowing the sensible improvements to be made has nothing but benefits-please let common sense prevail and support local sports clubs improve the area rather than prevent it.

An argument over maintaining well-used sporting facilities intertwined with talk of a car park... Perfectly sums up 21st Century Britain's inability to tackle the public health issues which clubs like Shenfield do their bit to combat. Laughable that this has become an issue; hopefully the local reaction to the council's myopic (lack of) vision will force a change of heart, but it should never have come to this.

Brentwood Council should be ashamed of their action. They should be supporting a community sports facility which encourages youngsters to take Cricket and keep them out of trouble. Wake up BCC and do your duty in supporting Shenfield CC.

Brentwood Borough Council should be assisting a club such as this not trying to find ways of obstructing their provision of activities for local youngsters. That should be ashamed

This an unbelievably short sighted decision which must be reversed. It would be a tragedy if the future of this club is jeopardised by 'politicians'

This facility is for both young and old to experience and is a very family orientated club. I cannot understand why the council would not support the club as it stands.
