This brings a lot of happy and fun times to so many. Have met so many people who's family have been involved for generations. It's part of the community.

Disgraceful behaviour from Brentwood Council. Managed to get Derek Pringles to tweet this. @derekpringle . Can I ask you to retweet if on Twitter as social media is powerful weapon and certainly the council won't want public exposure especially with Ashes on. @chrispp007

the current nets are clearly dangerous - the Courage family would be aghast , their intentions were quite clear

After many years attending SCC I cannot understand why the council are acting in this way. It is a disgrace and a waste of tax payers money. Having spoken to many of my friends in the area they are all disgusted at the council's behaviour in this matter. Shame on you Brentwood Council!!!

The stance that Brentwood Coucil appear to be taking after the ground was gifted to the club and planning permission was granted months ago is a scandal . We all including the council should be doing everything in our power to encourage sport especially for the young ,and this club has done this over many years.

Why are brentwood council refusing the renewal of these nets. We have eager youngsters wanting to enjoy practicing for their cricket matches , keeping fit, not causing problems to anyone - what is the logic of this action. It's disgraceful - plus will not cost the council anything.

This seems to be an outrageous and totally unfair demand on a local cricket club bringing great benefit to the local community you are meant to be supporting. Allow the nets.

Incase there is any doubt, what has happened is the council won't give permission for the new nets unless Shenfield CC give them the car park and pavilion (blackmail). The car park revenue is a couple of grand a year and the rent on the pavilion would be about the same. Call it £5k a year. This would finish Shenfield CC, and all over what is peanuts to the council.
Shame on you Brentwood council!
