The courts finally heard us and upgraded the ruling to a lifetime ban for Te Ara Smiler. Seeing justice for Pappa brings a heavy sense of relief to my heart. We will stay vigilant to ensure this remains in place forever.

Final supporters
We the undersigned petitioners, are asking for a lifetime ban on Te Ara Smiler of Levin, for ever owning or working with Horses again, after she starved both her horses, then had Pappa shot and set on fire.
Her sentence is the following :
120 hours Community Service, $500.00 fine, 5 year ban from owning a Horse.
Her Lawyer states that she will be appealing this already light sentence. Lets get her banned for life.

Seeing the anger in your comments reminds me why I started this fight after what happened to Pappa. I am currently working on a formal submission to ensure the courts understand that a short ban is an insult to the lives that were lost.

Seeing this level of support brings me back to the day I found out what happened to Pappa and it feels like the community is finally feeling the same outrage I carry every single day. This momentum proves that people are not willing to let such cruelty be forgotten. We are going to keep pushing until a lifetime ban is the only outcome.

Starving an animal is a deliberate act. If she didn't know it was detrimental to the horse how can she ever be responsible for one?
This is a disgrace. She should be banned for life from owning any animal. She made no effort whatsoever to rectify the situation, instead she shot one and tried to cover it up! How is that someone who should have animals EVER!
She needs to be banned for life. How hard is it to ask for help. These horses did not get this way overnight. She could have gone door knocking asking for grazing, she could have posted on fb, she could have gone to the SPCA herself and explained she was struggling with grazing..... but she chose not to.
Disgusting individual! Deliberately starving 2 horses to death when there are so many horse lovers out here that would have taken those horses in a heartbeat and given them sanctuary!! She most definitely should never ever be allowed to care for any animals ever again!!!
Absolute and total disrespect towards such a humble and graceful creature. No creature big or small should ever be subjected to such a hateful act/acts and or ill treatment. In full support of this petition to block this poor excuse of a human from ever owing another horse,pony,donkey, heck put in all animals with a pulse!.
She deserves to be Jailed.
What was the judge thinking no way should this scum be allowed to own or have animals in her care again!!!

This is disgusting, a love of animals, yea right. The NZ judicial system stinks, Things need to change, these lowlifes need to pay. She should have got life ban and $10k fine going to SPCA
