When I arrived from far away to learn about my grandfather's employment history in Biwabik, a librarian at the Virginia Public Library showed me their collection of hundred year old resident directories, giving me crucial information for my search!

The VPL was my safe haven growing up, and that was just a few years ago as I'm only 20. Many kids need a safe place to go that they trust will be there. This is that place.

The library is an invaluable resource to countless residents not only of Virginia, but also St. Louis County. People who need help find the library a safe, reliable resource. This does not even take into consideration the activities, events, and learning aids it provides for the children and youth of our communities. To cut this asset 30% is slashing a support system that is extremely needed and helpful to our communities. Find another place to cut and keep the library strong and growing. Thank you.

Instead of cutting the library budget get rid of the economic developer who has NOT done her job by bringing any business into the city in the almost 4 years she has been employed by the city. Also everyone of the councilors and mayor should be frequenting the library to see how many of us use it and everything it has to offer. Do any of them even have a library card? Cutting the good things for this town and keeping the bad is not what the citizens want or need. Thank you to the library staff. You are theBIGGEST AND BEST this town has to offer.

When I was a single mom we spent many hours at the library. It was great entertainment for a smart growing child who I was committed to not raising on electronics.

We visit this library on a weekly basis from May- October. Not only do we appreciate checking out books and magazines, we love seeing the puzzles people are working on, the book displays based on themes, categories, and genres, the handmade quilts made by community members, and much more. I follow this library on Facebook and see all the fun and interesting programs for adults and youth. This library is helping keep the Virginia area vital and thriving. Please do not cut funding and services!

I work at a library on the range and can’t imagine how all the people who come to my library everyday or week or etc would feel if we weren’t as functional as we are and didnt have the funding that we do. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY!

Librarians analyze and organize information. They are the road map guiding the curious to a wide variety of sources. We can't lose that.
