Before I get into this topic, let me give you an introduction to what plastic pollution generally is.

Plastic pollution is improper waste disposal on both land & water. We throw our rubbish into the oceans and the animals will mistake it for food causing deadly threats, even death. Plastic pollution is also bad for the environment because plastic releases toxins into the environment, microplastics are harmful, and the fact that plastic takes a long time to decompose damages our environment.

Plastic pollution facts:

- Plastic pollution can be found on every beach in the world.
- In 2016, more than 260 million tons of plastic were produced. As the global population increases, plastic production also increases.
- Plastic is an excessively long-lasting material, when containing additives, they are even stronger and can take at least 400 years to degrade.
- Annually, 100,000marine mammals and turtles are killed.
