The math program for freshmen at Valhalla High School is not working out very well. Although the school district believes that it gives the 9th graders an opportunity to think with others, the students do not agree. The new method that the school is using is a type of “self teaching” type of thing. Because it is our first year of high school, we are still getting used to the “big move” from middle school. Due to this new curriculum, most of the freshmen are not doing very well in math and failing the semester. I, and many other students believe that this should change to get the help we need to succeed.
