Let Mormons follow Christ alone
Dear President Monson, LDS apostles, Counselors to President Monson, and Quoroms of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Would you make a public announcement that if members of the LDS church chose to have their name removed from the roles of the LDS church and follow Jesus Christ alone and serve Him...that they would not forfeit any eternal blessings? I believe this would encourage many people to exemplify the 11th Article of Faith that states... "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." Expressing to both active and inactive members of the LDS church the fact that they have free agency to follow Christ would be a wonderful blessing. A public announcement like the type we are requesting would lead many to following after Jesus Christ. Some people that are not active in the LDS church may want to serve Jesus Christ outside of the LDS church....however, with the stigma of leaving the LDS church even for a good reason like wanting to serve Jesus Christ...many may never do so. Please communicate to the world that you care more about people serving and following Christ alone than being members of the LDS church. Please consider the pressure that some feel in being locked into any church, and their right to make a change without fear of being ostracized by their family, neighborhood, or clergy. Please show the world that intimidating tactics of having to stay within a certain church is not the key to eternal, spiritual peace with Heavenly Father. This petition is created with respect and love for you in the hopes that you will see the importance of why we are seeking 1000 people to sign this petition. Respectfully, Russ East
