We feel that 9th grade should continue to be able to be involved in the North Hills Middle School musical because it is much harder to get into the high school musical and we still want to do what we love. 9th graders are also better at playing older characters and we have more leadership and experience so we can lead beginners. Even if 6th graders want to be involved in the middle school musical, they can still be in the show because the high school drama club includes 4 grades.... so why can’t the middle school musical consist of 4 grades? Please consider signing this petition to help us continue our love for musical theater.

The stories shared in the comments regarding the transformative power of middle school theater have been deeply moving to read. I am currently compiling these experiences to present to the school administration as a testament to why keeping ninth grade involved is vital for our community. Your commitment to this cause provides the necessary foundation for these upcoming discussions.

Seeing this groundswell of support has confirmed how much the stage means to so many of our students. It is clear that the desire to keep our performing community together resonates far beyond my own expectations.

Our upcoming 9th graders are a wonderfully talented group of kids. They are focused, hard working, represent the district in a positive manner, and are wonderful role models for our younger children. They will provide much needed guidance for the other classes as previous 9th graders have done for them in years past. Specifically, the 9th graders in the drama club of 20-21 is a large group and that would be a huge loss to the middle school production. The Little Mermaid Jr. was undoubtedly one of the best MS musicals in recent years, and majority of the cast were these upcoming 9th graders. With the High School productions being smaller as well as competing against upper classmates, the opportunities to share their talents is severely diminished.

I would’ve been so upset if I weren’t able to participate in the musical in 9th grade. It also helped me make you get friends that I can help when they get to highschool.

I totally agree with this petition. I personally think that 9th graders should 100% be involved in the jr. musicals because it is so much fun and a easy way to make new friends.

I think that 9th graders deserve to be in the Middle School show next year. They deserve to be in it because they one always have and two don’t have the best chance making it into the high school show next year. I think that 6th grade shouldn’t be in the show as well because just because they are in the building doesn’t mean that they are allowed to do everything, if they weren’t allowed to do it while they weren’t in the building they shouldn’t be allowed to do it while in the building.

The middle school musical needs experienced 9th grade individuals to play leads and to help the new 6th and 7th grade students get acquainted with the North Hills Drama Club.

When we become freshman we will have a very limited chance to make high school play and musical. It is only reasonable that we should continue allowing 9th graders to participate in middle school musical.

I think 9 graders should be in the middle school musical and not in the high school. I still don't think it is fair that 9 graders get both.
