Internet is facing the biggest change in its history. New brands, ideas, groups, communities… have now found the chance to apply for their own specific space on internet naming system through ICANN’s new gTLD program.
While the majority of religious new gTLDs have been applied for from non-Islamic countries and the share of Islamic countries in the future of internet will be very low in comparison to the share of Muslim population in the world; and while the number of applications for TLDs inconsistent with Islamic values (gambling, porno, etc…) are 34 in comparison to only 5 Islamic TLDs, we as the Muslim Community insist on our right to benefit from our specific new gTLDs.
Dot-ISLAM and Dot-HALAL are prominent Islamic TLDs we would like to be approved by ICANN and presented on the Internet.

This letter is to confirm that I, a member of the Muslim Community, fully support the applications for .ISLAM and .HALAL generic Top Level Domains, submitted to ICANN in the New gTLD Program.

I believe that in the area where ICANN is welcoming various new gTLDs of various communities (including TLDs inconsistent with Islamic values), the Muslim Community needs its relevant TLDs as well, and .ISLAM and .HALAL can play a significant role in promoting the values of the Muslim community throughout the cyber space, based on the fundamental human rights of freedom of speech and religion, while maintaining mutual respect among religions.
