@Anonymous: "Removing Statues doesn't erase history." How ignorant you are and full of disdain. Out-of-sight,
out-of-mind. The Advisory Committee successfully returned a vote to the Brunswick Mayor and City Commissioners to abide by GA Law, 50-3-1 which protects the statue which is Consecrated and Dedicated to unnamed soldiers, the common man who fought this war with over 133,000 Confederate Southern soldiers killed in action and 337,000 killed from the North.
Fewer than 10% of the population could afford to keep or maintain non-family members either "slave" or "indentured servant." This statue represents the common man, the common soldier who left his field, farm, families & friends to fight the War of Northern Aggression from which apparently "Anonymous" knows nothing of Georgia history, US history, European history, or World History.
Crawl back under the rock from which came. There you'll find only geology, which surprisingly is also full of history.

You are absolutely correct but there are people wanting it to come down. People who lack respect for others and want to cancel out anything they don't like.

Leave the monuments alone and teach people the truth and they wouldnt be offended so there would be no advocates trying to take them down.

Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it. - George Santayana.
Just as the erectors of this fine art were free to spend their money in memory of their fallen, so too today, others are free to erect monuments of their choosing at their expense. Dream, create, and enhance. Do not be a hater-destroyer.

Equally dismayed with the newly exposed issues about some Committee members and possible underhanded methods used by local government employees, elected officials, and imported antagonists to determine the fate of a statue that belongs to ALL the residents of Glynn County, not just City of Brunswick residents. Represent all residents by having two statues in the same park and let history speak for those willing to seek the truth.
Leave it be.
