We Want Lenny Back!
It has recently come to out attention that Lenny Lunda from Zambia will not be returning to Li Po Chun United World College to complete his IB diploma in the school year of 2006-07. This information has confused and shocked many students and we all sincerely hope this will not be the case. This petition is meant for members of the Li Po Chun community who have known Lenny Lunda. It is directed towards the Zambian National Committee as the college has promised to support Lenny. Please do not leave your signature as anonymous. The reason Lenny will not be returning is because of his low subject grades. We wish for the members of the Zambian National Committee to realize that academic values, though recognizably important, was not the sole reason for which Lenny was selected to come to Hong Kong. Academic values also had very little to do with the way Lenny managed to get along so well with the campus community. Lenny practices the ideals of the UWC movement. We believe that Lenny has personal commitment to peace and international understanding. Many of us have borne witness to his inquisitive nature towards cultures other than his own, his complete lack of discrimination of any form, and his expressions of love to members of the community. We who sign this petition believe that Lenny has potential to improve his academic skills and he has our vote of confidence. We also promise to assist Lenny in any areas in which assistance is required. We request for Lenny to be able to remain in LPC as a regular student for another school year in order to complete his IB diploma. He is a popular and much loved member of our community and we believe the community will be hurt if he were to leave. We would appreciate if the staff of LPC UWC would express their feelings towards this matter directly to the Zambian National Committee though a letter, and to sign this petition if they choose. This petition will be sent at the end of June 2006 to the principal of LPC UWC and the Zambian National Committee
