I do not want Equestrian Estates to be surrounded by Palos, which is far, far away. I do not want their water. I do not want their construction clogging Bell Road and McCarthy. I do not want to pay Palos taxes while Equestrian kids go to Lemont schools!
Please don't do this to us and our neighbors who live in the GOC. We all just moved in with young families, because we liked the look and feel of this area. This plan will lower our property values and totally change the area we all plan to raise our families in.
I really believe these golf courses and businesses are staples of our community, and places we are proud to call part of Lemont. If we lose these operations to this annexation, we would truly be losing a large part of our history and heritage.
Annexation of Cook County Forest Preserve property by a village should not occur without a full hearing by all adjacent communities. This deal has back-room written all over it. Where is the transparency?
Palos cannot and will not support/service the citizens of this proposed annexation but rather will be stealing tax dollars. There is simply no other explanation for such satellite annexation. It is an inexcusable action and must not be allowed.

This is a land grab that would divide Lemont that already has infrastructure such as the Fire station on Bell. I urge the commissioners to vote No.

As of 9/1, we officially became residents of Lemont. We have a 2 year old daughter that will part of the Lemont education system and do NOT want to see Palos Park negatively effect our schools and community. Please don't let this happen.
