"Please note we would like to clarify the content policy we have in place since 2002. FanFiction.Net follows the Fiction Rating system ranging from Fiction K to Fiction M. Although Fiction Ratings goes up to Fiction MA, FanFiction.Net since 2002 has not allowed Fiction MA rated content which can contain adult/explicit content on the site. FanFiction.Net only accepts content in the Fiction K through Fiction M range. Fiction M can contain adult language, themes and suggestions. Detailed descriptions of physical interaction of sexual or violent nature is considered Fiction MA and has not been allowed on the site since 2002."
This petition is in the hopes that FanFiction.net will institute an MA rating for "Explicit Content for Mature Adults Only," instead of further tightening a creative block on the writers on the site. Writers do not appreciate feeling constrained by a previously accomodating FFnet, and being in fear of their work being taken down because of a debatable line between M Rated and MA Rated stories. Nor do many of us want to migrate to AdultFanFiction's website for the simple reason that FFnet has enabled many of us to establish a known reader base (thanks to feature's like "Author Alert,") that migration may/will lose. FFnet has a great community, great support and is a favored choice by many and can only stay this way by retaining a good standing with it's user base. Creative constraints and hard "crack downs" with tightening policies is no way of achieving this on a site who's purpose is "Unleash your imagination,". We can fix this with some flexibility - adding an MA rating, and some light enforcement of encouraging writers to label their work as such. -- Amanjot

I am gathering documentation on how the current M-rating enforcement creates inconsistent moderation standards across different fandoms. This data will be included in the formal proposal I am drafting for the platform administration to request a policy review.

My stories have been recently taken in a community that reports and deletes stories. I'm a little offended at this since I enjoy writing and improving my writing through lemons, which is important for me as a future author. I don't see why FF.net needs to take drastic measures as to take down hard-worked stories with tons of revies and favorites and make the author feel as though their lemon was not worth it. I know my stories might soon be taken down so maybe I'll start writing on Wattpad. Isn't very popular but sure does have a better system than FF.net.
I have only written a T rated one-shot so far. I have some really good plot lines that include smut in mind but I am scared that my account will be suspended if I post them. I read them to.
Writing is a sacred process. Being censored during and/or after trying to create something you see in your head and need to put into words makes it less about the story and more about the story police. Remember burning of books... deleting stories is just as bad. I didn't include my Penname for fear of being deleted for cause or not.
If sites likes like YouTube and Twitch now understand the need to allow people to post mature content with a warning label on it. Then a websites like FictionPress.com and FanFiction.net need to get with the times. Youtube forces people to rate their videos and even forces people to be logged into their account with an appropriately specified age attached. Twitch simply has a warning that indicates the channel is for mature audiences. Obviously this isn't that hard to do and in todays age, should be a given in any creative community.
I love to read these stories, but some of my favorite stories keep disappearing. You should create a MA rating and make it so only people who have accounts that verify they are over 18 can read or post them.
I think adding this could be beneficial and inclusive to all, as well stop certain groups from being the "police" of everyone all because it says in the rules to report rule breakers- you don't need to actually do so, and it's ridiculous to have such notions.
I'm fairly new to the lemon scene but I would like to broaden my writing skills

There's nothing wrong with lemons, smut or sexual situations. If this helps keep those jerks that like to harass people that write such then just put up a MA rating, it'd make things easy. Take power away from trolls and give responsibility to the readers.
