Dear Leicester Select Board,
We the following residents are requesting that you do not approve the 2 1/2 override request to go on the ballot until a solution has been found for the subscribers of the Cherry Valley and Rochdale Water district.
May of the subscribers are already having financial difficulties as they have the HIGHEST WATER RATES IN MASSACHUSETTS and are drowning in water bills.

I have spent the past few days speaking with neighbors who are deeply concerned about the mounting pressure of these water costs. It is becoming increasingly clear that our community cannot absorb additional financial burdens while this underlying issue remains unaddressed. I am currently working to organize our thoughts into a formal presentation for the next Select Board meeting.

The steady growth of this petition shows that many of us recognize how deeply the current water rates are affecting our neighbors. It is clear that the community wants the Select Board to address this financial burden before considering any further tax overrides.

Leicester officials NEED to solve this problem first before spending money on ANY other town projects. Cherry Valley residents in particular deserve a 35-50% tax decrease due to erosion of property values as a result of the exorbitant water and sewer rates and definitely NOT an increase due to prop. 2-1/2 override.
The water rates are out of control. As for an override NO!!Tell the school department they can fund the highway.When we where outsourced we where told they would save 289000 dollars the first year and much more the following year
Residents of Cherry Valley should not have to suffer financially because of the lack of oversight/poor management of the Water Department. Lets support our overbilled residents.
Yes, we are drowing in our water bills! The Selectman would have some nerve t even consider an override request for the taxpayers of this district! Come on...do what's right and vote "NO" on the request!!!
no more without at least a five year plan outlining all of the upcoming money to be needed to correct the short sighted decisions of the past ten years.
Let them go bankrupt and let the DEP take over!

This town is contractually obligated to the Commonwealth to unify the water/sewer & get Moose Hill online. But local politicians have - for some unknown reason - kicked the can down the road for years, now the bill is come due, the limited subscribers to the Cherry alley district is being asked to shoulder the fiscal weight of all of it. This town has consistently been fiscally irresponsible, and tax overrides are permanent, they NEVER go back. So no to the override - for ANY reason.
