The administration has finally agreed to a full review of the editorial process. I am incredibly relieved that our concerns were taken seriously after everything we have endured. We will hold them to their word to ensure this paper actually respects the student body moving forward.

We the undersigned no longer trust the Leeds Student and demand a review of its Editorial process

This year the Leeds student Newspaper has offended and endangered a great number of students. Our petition reads: ‘We the undersigned no longer trust the Leeds Student and demand a review of its Editorial process’
This petition shall be delivered to the Leeds Student newspaper, the Student Exec and to the Vice Chancellor’s secretary.
Please sign either this online petition or the physical copy held in the Union. Both will be presented. Please also include your university email address. This will not be used to spam but rather to clarify that you are in fact a Leeds Student. For further information please visit our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/groups/365397623479400/
The aim of this petition is to allow those who have strong grievances with the Leeds Student Newspaper to register their discontent and make a symbolic stand against unethical journalism. Although the editor has not personally written the articles in question, it is their job to ensure unsuitable content is not published in the Leeds Student.
We are by no means implying that the entire paper is without merit. On the contrary, there are certainly talented individuals who contribute to the Leeds Student each week. However this work has been consistently overshadowed by the sensationalist ethos that drives the paper, opting for unsubstantiated titillation over quality reporting in its main articles.
We hope that this petition serves as an inspiration to all students who might feel like an overlooked minority and to all writers who want to write compelling and socially responsible journalism which respects its readers, its writers and serves to improve life for everyone in our university and its surrounding areas.

I have been hearing from so many of you who felt personally targeted by recent headlines and it confirms exactly why this review is necessary. We are currently finalizing the formal packet of materials to hand over to the union and the administration to show them that this pattern of reporting is unacceptable.

Seeing this level of support confirms that so many of my fellow students have reached their breaking point with the paper. This momentum proves that we refuse to accept the current editorial standards any longer.

About time. Sick of reading such offensive trash disguised as news.
I used to enjoy reading the student but now it just feels like they are trying to start drama on purpose. We deserve better than this.
GET IT TOGETHER. Seriously embarrassing.
Finally someone is calling them out. The quality has been absolute rubbish lately and it is ruining the reputation of the uni paper entirely.
Total joke of a paper. They just want clicks instead of doing actual reporting. Sort it out.
