Updates

January 11, 2018

I have been hearing from so many of you who are still struggling to process the fire that displaced our children. The district acts like we have moved past the trauma but the emotional toll on our students remains very real and very present.

January 11, 2018

Seeing so many families unite around this shows I am not the only one still hurting from everything we have endured. This momentum proves that our community is finished with silence and ready for real action.

Former parent, and neighbor here. As a psychologist I strongly encourage the school board to address the emotional needs of the students. The school is an icon of learning, and Tampa history. We need to show students that what is broken can be mended.

Friends, I live in Kansas and had the very traumatic experience.of seeing my children's school on fire. It did not burn to the ground but the looks on my childrens' faces is burned in my brain. Please. Rebuild according to the expressed talking points. I will be following the results. Sincerely, Sarah Jane Russell

This is a beautiful school, and contributing structure to the Tampa Heights historic district. If not restored, Tampa will lose yet another piece of its wonderful history. Please restore this school.

There are plenty of current students, faculty, alumni and neighbors that would love get on the property to help clean up the yard (fallen limbs from the hurricane 4 months ago!) and properly secure the building from further damage from the weather.

I cannot imagine the neighborhood of Tampa Heights without this beautiful elementary school; it is an integral part of the neighborhood. The students and staff of Lee deserve to have their school back.

Lee was my home for 3 years, and the students and staff need all the help they can get to save an important part of Tampa's heritage.
