Former parent, and neighbor here. As a psychologist I strongly encourage the school board to address the emotional needs of the students. The school is an icon of learning, and Tampa history. We need to show students that what is broken can be mended.

Lee was my home for 3 years, and the students and staff need all the help they can get to save an important part of Tampa's heritage.

I moved into the neighborhood just so that my kids can go to this school. It is a wonderful school rich with history and the staff have really encourage the famiLee motto. We need for this school to be rebuilt not only for the kids sake but also for the sake of the teachers, administration, and to preserve the history of the school. It would be a shame to let this school go because I have it understood that this school has set records and has raised the bar for other schools in Hillsborough County. It is like the example of a child with a role model. If you take away the model then, the child could be lost or will not do the best that he or she can do in life. Standards will be lowered or the child will not push him/her self to become a high achiever. I have been a parent at this school for six and possibly more years. In the meantime, we all should all show our support towards the school and staff not only because of their tremendous loss but also for the records that they have achieved. Support should come from the general community, Hillsborough County officials and the Board of Education. A child might have come from two individuals but it takes a village to raise the child. Let's not lose the school, and let's start an open line of communication to ensure that we are all on the right track in preserving the rich history and achievements that we have all contributed towards the success for the school.

Friends, I live in Kansas and had the very traumatic experience.of seeing my children's school on fire. It did not burn to the ground but the looks on my childrens' faces is burned in my brain. Please. Rebuild according to the expressed talking points. I will be following the results. Sincerely, Sarah Jane Russell

This is a beautiful school, and contributing structure to the Tampa Heights historic district. If not restored, Tampa will lose yet another piece of its wonderful history. Please restore this school.

There are plenty of current students, faculty, alumni and neighbors that would love get on the property to help clean up the yard (fallen limbs from the hurricane 4 months ago!) and properly secure the building from further damage from the weather.

I cannot imagine the neighborhood of Tampa Heights without this beautiful elementary school; it is an integral part of the neighborhood. The students and staff of Lee deserve to have their school back.

I agree. The school district needs to be proactive in supporting our teachers and students, and communicating with our FamiLee!
