Hello, thank you for taking the time to read this. I am an alumni of Walker High School....class of '89....my mother graduated in '68....my uncles and aunts also graduated from Walker. Please reconsider your decision to change the name. It's part of my history....it was always known as "the best"....in so many ways - I am proud to be a Walker Viking!!

Basically a new high school has been built and given a new name and Walker high is no longer. Of course it's hard for people to let go. It's like history removed. New school does look prison like. I left jasper 25 years ago never to return. No regrets there. I will sign this for those who care.

It is a shame that the city Board of Education has such little respect for history and the proud name of Walker! I sincerely hope that you will reconsider. If not, I hope social media will help everyone that voted to change the name will promptly be voted out of office. Please represent the will of the people!!!!

I am not for changing the name of Walker High School. I graduated in 1960. I do not think the name should be change just because it's a new School.

Why bother changing something that is etched with memories of years gone by. This is rediculous to hurt people like that. Walker Viking should stay Black and Gold as they have always bern

I am PROUD to be a graduate of WALKER High School! The old saying is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!". Why should a few "select" people get to change history and heritage when in our country, it's a democracy?

Leave my old high school alone! I graduated in 1985 and hold fond memories of friends and staff alike. Though I moved out of state shortly after graduation, I return frequently to visit family and always stop by Walker High to reminence about days past. Good times with friends and lessons learned, both in and out of classrooms are forever etched in my memory.

Opposed to this. Unless overturned, remove "Vikings" and "Black and Gold" and replace with "Jokers" and "Pink and Purple." Also, do not play on WALKER VIKING Ki-Ro Gambrell football field. Also, new fight song: "One-eyed, One-horned Flying Purple People Eaters."

Do the citizen have any choice anymore? The city is already forcing all elementary schools to merge and now this! Can't wait for my kids to change elementary schools every two years then go to Jasper high school...
