Lake Windward Elementary PTA Executive Board has been in discussions about potentially dissolving our PTA and establishing a PTO. There are several reasons why we believe a PTO could be a better fit for LWE. It has more flexibility & control at the school level, and also lets us keep 100% of our money at our school. The PTO Board will be acountable to Lake Windward Elementary as outlined in our bylaws. To proceed with the dissolution process we must have a petition signed by our PTA members. The dissolution date would be May 31, 2017. Please consider signing our online petition.

I really thought this might be a slow burn but the support has been honestly overwhelming and clearly a lot of you are feeling the same way about keeping our funds right here at home. It is wild to see this much energy behind the shift to a PTO especially when I remember sitting at the kitchen table wondering if anyone would even care about the bylaws stuff.

YES. PTO is way better. No more sending dues away to national.

Hope this goes through fast. Our school deserves to keep every penny we raise for the kids.
