As salaamu alaikum,
I make du'a that a space is finally built for Sisters in this new Masjid. The number of Muslim sisters in Barbados, is steadily increasing, with new shahadahs every other month. This is now necessity.

I think it's sad that women in Barbados have to sign a petition to pray in a masjid. Everyone should be able to pray in a masjid. This situation is very oppressive towards women and I sincerely hope women are given the rights they deserve.

MashaAllah.we really need this now more than ever.This is a different era from when our forefathers came.There was really not much need nor were the lady folks of that time interested in going to the masjid.But being a tourist destination where plenty of Muslims pass through we really need a ladies section also important for the newly reverted ladies to find a place where they can pray in peace and Allah knows best.

I applaud your efforts. Being able to worship together as a community is a right, and is the example set by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Women were a part of his mosque and they should therefore be a part of all mosques.

People need to move away from tradition (denying woman from attending masjid, in this case) and allow for the beauty and wisdom that is Islam.

Alhamdulillah. This is a welcomed idea. Barbados is the only place i have visited without a provision for female praying spaces in their various masjids. Please this issue shouldn't be taken lightly, I strongly support the motion that a female space should be constructed in the new masjid. Also female space should be incorporated into the existing masjids if possible. Especially Jum'ah and Makki masjid. May Allah make this task an easy one. Jazakallahu Khairan.

If our sisters and daughters will not find a place in the Houses of ALLAH where do we think they will eventually find a place?
the world is not what it was 20 years ago...let alone 100 or 200 years. We need to go back to the sunnah of Rasoolullah and not the sunnah of our recent forefathers.

As one of the lot owners at the Clermont site where the masjid is being built, I fully support this initiative, and I know other lot owners do too. Some of us have spoken out on this issue but we have not been able to change the course things are taking. Inshallah this petition will do that.
The Prophet Muhammad forbade the exclusion of women from places of worship. It's time we put the requirements of our religion above the dictates of our culture and our desires.
In keeping with the practice of Prophet Muhammad, women should be given adequate space in Clermont masjid, and every masjid worldwide, with no barrier between them and the imam.

Masha'Allah for this initiative.
This is long overdue.
Provisions should be made in the Masjid for women. Barbados is a tourist country, we are growing in numbers here alhumdulilah. We have many , many locals converting to Islam. Majority are women without Muslim families and mehrams. Tell me , where do these women go when they need a spiritual environment?
We live in a era where women are driving, doing the shopping and errands etc. men are okay with this.
Are they also okay with these same women offering their salah, bowing down before their Creator in the car park of a supermarket? or on the side of the street? with or without their menfolk around,?
Is it more elevating in status , modesty and common sense to be praying salah at the side of the street while your men go into the Masjid to offer their salah?
This is discrimination ! One can argue that women don't need to be outdoors, women can make it home in time for salah or * go to someones home* .
This is beyond silly! Double Standards!
May Allah guide us to do what is right, help us to obey Him and follow the Sunnah in every aspect of our lives. May He Unite the hearts of the Muslims in Barbados, help us to resolve our differences with wisdom and love. May He place in the hearts of men to accommodate for the needs of their women, daughters and sisters in Islam in all halal ventures . Assist us in enabling good and forbidding the evil, use us for the service of His deen and make us all a means of benefit to each other aameen

This is a blessed and righteous initiative and Insha Allah it will bring more rewards to the community. This is a part of the sunnah of our beloved prophet, who welcomed women into his masjid to pray in the same space as men. Hoping that Barbados will catch up to the mosques across North America who are already following this sunnah.
