Muslim females in Barbados are in need of a central Masjid (Mosque) that has adequate provisions for females to perform daily prayers. For years, the existing three Masjids (Mosques) in Barbados (Jumma Masjid, Madina Masjid and Makki Masjid) have denied access to women. As a result women have become strangers to the places of worship.
In light of this, the Ladies 4 Masjid Petition is advocating for adequate provisions to be made for females at a new Masjid (Mosque) soon to be constructed in Clermont, Barbados. Masjids (Mosques) around the world have provided designated prayer spaces for Muslim sisters and as such we know that this new masjid can be purpose built without difficulty to include such a space.
We fully recognise that the Blessed Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) has said that there are more blessings if women performed prayers at home. At the same time however, we recognise that the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) did not forbid women from praying in the masjid, therefore the intentional lack of provision and denial of access for females in the existing Masjids (Mosques) mentioned above is a violation of our rights.
The Ladies 4 Masjid campaign intends to bring global awareness to this issue and seeks your assistance in achieving the construction of a female inclusive Masjid (Mosque) by requesting that you sign our petition.

Too long the ignorance of the Barbados Muslim community has turned a blind eye to something that is so common anywhere else you go. Women are the most blessed creation of Allah and to deny them the right to worship Allah in a house of prayer is backward in an age of advancement. Wake up Bajan Muslim community.
Women should have the same rights as men to pray in a house of worship, women here in the UK have this right with separate facilities provided for them. This should be available in Barbados as well. I fully support this petition.
The women of Madina were free to come to Masjid an-Nabi, there were no curtains, barriers, or separation between the men and women there, and Rasuulallah (s.a.s.) even scheduled special days for women to come for study and questions.
As salaamu alaikum, I make du'a that a space is finally built for Sisters in this new Masjid. The number of Muslim sisters in Barbados, is steadily increasing, with new shahadahs every other month. This is now necessity.
If our sisters and daughters will not find a place in the Houses of ALLAH where do we think they will eventually find a place? the world is not what it was 20 years ago...let alone 100 or 200 years. We need to go back to the sunnah of Rasoolullah and not the sunnah of our recent forefathers.

A religion can be a bad spouse and leaving is perhaps the best option if you really need space. It seems self-indulgent to protest this issue when there is a war in Yemen going when thousands of children are dying of malnutrition and cholera? Why is there no comparable protest by you over that? The victims are all muslims. But good luck trying to bring this medieval cult into line with the values of the 21st Century. For that reason it's a campaigned fraught by cognitive dissonance and parsing mixed signals from Muhammad himself who gives only faint encouragement to women on the matter while discouraging them from leadership positions and generally banishing them from the public space, except as furniture. The masjid is actually not a space for learning as learning is generally understood, but in common with all religious ideology it is one for indoctrination; and misogyny is a big part of the programme, hence the rationale for your lack of access. Next you will be wanting equal inheritance rights. It's too much of a slippery slope for men.

I am quite comfortable and happy praying at home, but there are times when we are on the go and need somewhere safe to stop and pray, but what about tourist when they travel here, last but not least I have a 3yr old daughter inshallah we will have these facilities in place for all our daughters. Ameen
