A religion can be a bad spouse and leaving is perhaps the best option if you really need space. It seems self-indulgent to protest this issue when there is a war in Yemen going when thousands of children are dying of malnutrition and cholera? Why is there no comparable protest by you over that? The victims are all muslims. But good luck trying to bring this medieval cult into line with the values of the 21st Century. For that reason it's a campaigned fraught by cognitive dissonance and parsing mixed signals from Muhammad himself who gives only faint encouragement to women on the matter while discouraging them from leadership positions and generally banishing them from the public space, except as furniture. The masjid is actually not a space for learning as learning is generally understood, but in common with all religious ideology it is one for indoctrination; and misogyny is a big part of the programme, hence the rationale for your lack of access. Next you will be wanting equal inheritance rights. It's too much of a slippery slope for men.

Masjid is a place for learning, especially women they are the one who are raising children. A well educated mother with both the knowledge of dean n dunya is very important for women.

Mosques are a place of gathering, and having these spaces provided allows us to meet new people of our deen and make new friends!

Masjids are a place for spiritual well-being and learning, thus making it crucial in especially in these times for Muslim women to have access to prayer space in every masjid.

Islam didn't prohibited the women from going to the masjed ,they need to go as they need to go to shopping

I believe we need to return to the principles of equality and justice found in the Qur'an. No hadith/sunnahs of the Prophet (pbuh) and practices of companions (like Umar RA deterring women from mosques) should ever over-rule it's divinity. Women accessing mosques is not 'haraam' according to the Qur'an- and therefore can never be haraam. If it is therefore halaal, then our communities must be united in providing equal and just provision for all Muslims- men and women.

Dear Sister, Thank you for your concerns. I, along with other women supporting this petition also pray Salaat at Harts Gap. In fact, some of us have been going to the Harts Gap Masjid even before it was located in Harts Gap. This petition is in no way trying to discredit the Harts Gap or the Chancery Lane Masjid for the excellent work they have been doing, however, having 2 Masajids that permit women doesn't justify the fact that the other Masajids have explicitly denied females access to a Masjid space. They are times when women have tried to perform Salaat in these Masajids and have been turned away. Sister, is this right, is this the teaching of the Prophet S.A.W? This petition clearly identifies the Masajids that do so as well as clearly states that we are advocating for a space in Clermont. They are a number of reasons why the Masajids mentioned in the petition should designate a space for women in light of the other 2 Masajids. Firstly, it is our right to have space in EVERY Masjid, the Prophet S.A.W clearly stated this. Secondly, they are times when females need a place to pray and are not within the vicinity of Harts Gap, I can personally say that this has happened to me on a number of occasions where I was closer to a Masjid in the City however, had to resort to praying in a car park close by. Lastly, having a female inclusive Masjid in Clermont will be more convenient for those living on this side of the island. I also live in the vicinity of Clermont, and it is quite difficult to travel to Harts Gap or Chancery Lane especially in Ramadhan when I wish to attend Taraweeh Salaat, which finishes at late hours. I would also like to point out that we have not discredited the work of the Madrasahs, this petition is quite clear in the issue it is addressing, which is advocating for a female inclusive Masjid at Clermont.

my hometown in Texas has 3 masjid a and it is z only place I learn more about my faith and have real peace (ladies section)

I have been coming to Barbados from the US since 1984. I am an African-American Muslim woman in my 50s. For decades, if i wanted to, I prayed Jumuah and Eid Salat at the mosque in Harts Gap Christ Church. I felt comfortable there. I was then very puzzled when I saw this. I am not sure why, as someone here said earlier, whoever came up with this petition is making out like there never was a space for women. When i first started to come to Barbados, I was told that the mosque space for women at Harts Gap was created since the 1970s. If any of you women here wanted a space as you keep insisting, there was one available since the 1970s. I understand changing needs, growing population etc but dont make the international world feel like there was NEVER a space for women in any of the mosques in Barbados. Also, the women from the Asian community have their classes going on in their homes. The big mosque in Kensington has a learning center for women next door. These sisters are very dedicated. A few of them invited me to come. They show a lot of dedication to the deen. At the end of the day, our intentions have to be clean.

yes. Its puzzling why if they so badly wanted to go and pray at a mosque they never took up the opportunity to do so at the one in Harts Gap.
