- Due to recent events in NJ. I want Uber and Lyft drivers to be identified (labeled). A local woman was killed when she trusted what was supposed to be an Uber driver that was not labeled or marked. He took it upon himself to leave the child locks on all doors then proceeded to rape and kill her. He then was arrested and charged with murder and kiddnapping. Please help me make this a one time occurance.
Signing this petition also means that persons who are no longer employed by these car service companies must return their tags or company indentification to their employe. Failure to do so should result in a fine of $5,000 USD.

This is terrified me. My daughter uses these apps all the time and she doesnt always pay attention. We need better rules for these drivers so we know who is who.
Tbere is some info here that needs to be corrected. This was not Uber's fault and I am not affiliated with uber in any way. Unfortunately, the stickers/lights are sold online and anyone could purchase one. The plates belong to the driver because it is their personal car. They will not turn them in to anyone. You must be vigilant. You must ask before getting in the car, what's my name? Only the true uber driver will know that. Uber will send you a picture of the driver, car, and license plate. It is your responsibility to check all of the information before getting into the car. You must turn your settings on your uber app to notify a friend or relative when you have gotten in the car.
