Paul Fournet was a wonderful man. He was married to my Aunt Ruby when I was a young teenager. I thought the world of him. After the war, everyone began to know about him because he was a pioneer in aviation in Lafayette. He was a wonderful man of courage and helped so many young people become interested in airplanes and flying. Even though Paul was injured in a plane crash, he was in no way 'handicapped'. In fact he never let the fact that he had to get around in a wheelchair, prevent him from doing anything.

I was in High School when Paul started his Flying Service. He would let us kids hang around and do some "Hanger Flying". He was always happy to answer our questions and never talked down to us. He preached safety above all else. It would be most appropriate to honor the fine man in this manner.

Paul Fournet will always stand in my mind as shining example of how a man of integrity can make a difference. I applaud Ed Roy in this significant proposal that will have a perpetual impact on our city and state. Paul Fournet was a mentor to many of us who have had the opportunity to become pilots. I fully support this worthwhile proposal.
well deserved!
