I have flown in to LFT Regional for over 40 years, seeing all phases of that airport's growth. I remember Paul rolling out to chock my wheels himself. In the whole of the US, there is not a pilot who has flown into LFT who doesn't remember and admire Mr. Fournet. Whatever aviation in Lafayette ends up being, it will always be because of Paul. Re-name your airport with Paul Fournet Field attached.

No one contributed more to the growth of aviation in Lafayette. His love of aviation was always enough for him but he will wear this honor proudly. I vote for Paul Fournet Field to be added to our airport's name.

Paul Fournet is singularly the most important part of the birth of aviaton in Lafayette. His continued presence in the community, along with the many humanitarian projects he fostered, is an enduring and integral part of what Lafayette is today. Paul Fournet Field is a fitting reward from all of us who so reaped the benefits of what he provided.

Well deserved. I was one of many that benefited from Chief’s mentorship and support while attending USL and working at PFAS in the 80’s. He was a great leader to the community!
