I have spent the last few days drafting a formal proposal for the county board to review. We are now coordinating with legal counsel to ensure the language aligns with current state statutes before we submit it for consideration.

The scale of current support confirms that the school board can no longer delay a formal meeting on this policy. I am currently drafting a letter to the San Juan County oversight committee to initiate a review of our proposal.

Schools are soft targets. If someone wants to hurt kids they know exactly where nobody can stop them. Change the policy now.
Why do we protect our banks with guns but leave our classrooms defenseless?? Enough is enough.
ALLOW OUR TEACHERS TO CARRY! The police are too far away if seconds count.
No teacher is being "forced" to carry. only volunteer and with training. It is time to start protecting our kids.
Its time we did something to protect our kids at school.... Gun free zones are not working give our teachers the right to chose to conceal carry... Give our Veterans a job protecting our kids... Our money is protected by armed guards why shouldn't our children have the same protection.
Its their Right to Carry or not!

By and under what constitutional power/authority is ANY school declared a Gun Free Zone, thereby in effect AND fact denying adults, teachers and all employees, their right "right" to self protect, as well as protecting any students?
