While I have no first hand knowledge, the stories reached down to me as early as 4th grade and swirled around my graduation in the late 90s with new stories to emerge. Granted it’s a small school and rumors spread like wildfire some true some not true. However, I do know key’s prideful image , especially with their college acceptance and their lack of support to those that don’t rise to that image. I was also shocked when I went to college and a class discussion about teacher student relationships led to everyone looking at me like I had a third head when I said there were plenty of students and teachers at my school that dated and even married.

It was covered up eventually acknowledged
And the headmistress was DISMAYED, that’s all
One board member told me “we screwed up with your kid”

It was a different era when I was there from K-12 in the 80s and 90s, and yet rumors of the past persisted and allowed indiscretions in my era too. I'm sorry to hear how insidious it was early on! Signing to support those who had this harmful experience in hopes of apologies to victims and prevention of future abuse!

Although I was not aware of this while I was in school at Key I learned many years later what some friends experienced. I was so disappointed that this behavior took place by teachers I looked up to and how it haunted several friends for the rest of their lives. It was very wrong.

My time at Key was an incredible learning experience. I never felt threatened or mistreated in any way.
I support those of you who suffered because of inappropriate behavior by an individual and the institution that condones said behavior. I hope you will all find peace.
