For A Publicly Owned Kerrville Multi-Purpose Meeting Facility We, citizens and voters of Kerrville, Texas, urge the immediate City Council action to propose, fund, negotiate, and begin construction of a Convention Center facility for economic development (employment and tax-base enhancement) of Kerrville. Whereas, 4b sales tax proceeds are available, and whereas those funds are statutorily restricted to economic and lifestyle improvement, we urge the City to ask the Kerrville Economic Improvement Corporation to process funding sufficient to pay the cost of building a City owned, Multi Purpose Meeting Facility (MMF). Further, we the undersigned believe the greatest positive economic impact will be achieved by building this facility at the gateway location (south of Interstate 10 and east of Highway 16) while still maintaining the current quality of life for Kerrville residents.

Updates

June 7, 2010

The steady growth in support for this initiative confirms that our community recognizes the potential of a dedicated meeting facility. This momentum underscores a shared vision for the economic future of our city.

This would be great for local businesses. Tired of seeing the town stuck in neutral while everyone else grows. Build it already.

Use the tax money for this instead of wasting it on other stuff. The gateway location makes total sense for travelers coming off the I-10.

Finally. We have been sending folks to Boerne or San Antonio for years because we dont have the space. Keep our money in Kerrville.
