Joffrey's wooden cross has finally met its maker. The interior has been eroded by carpenter ants. I applied to the county and was given approval to put this cross up in place of the previous one. I hired a landscaper who is a certified arborist to add this memorial. The county inspector who lives in Venice, FL drove by just recently and said it is, "not going to work." He added that if the county workers come by that they will, "hook a line to it on a back hoe and haul it to the dump. If you want it, you better take it out." I have two weeks. Debrecen Road in Sarasota, Florida is officially marked as a tree-lined "Canopy Road." The cross is aligned with the other trees. It is Joff's Memorial and stands not only for who he was as a solidly wonderful christian but as a symbol to others to slow down and appreciate life! I would like to keep it there. The homewoners who have stopped to chat have said that it means a lot to them and that they feel it does make a difference. i'm hoping this petition can show the commisioners how much this cross means to the community
