The school board officially decided to keep our community intact and I am overwhelmed with relief for our kids. Thank you for signing and fighting for this with me. We will stay alert to ensure these promises hold firm in the coming years.

Final supporters
- As the discussion of boundary changes for Portland Public Schools progresses, one issue seems to be a common theme from almost every school - let us keep our community together. Parents, teachers and most importantly students have worked long and hard to build strong communities that provide incredible support to PPS. Whether it's volunteer hours, fundraising or close friendships, these assets are extremely valuable to the successes of our students and schools, but they are extremely difficult to measure using data. Our school, Beverly Cleary, is one of the few schools where both proposed options split our community. As members of this community, we are signing this petition to urge PPS to take whatever steps it can to keep our community together. Whether you move to a K-5 model or stick with K-8, we urge you to think about the impact your decision will have on the students. There has to be another way that will permit this community and more importantly these students to stay together if they desire. Whether this means permitting existing students to grandfather in; allowing some level of choice for families whose homes are being redisticted or some other solution, we the undersigned urge PPS to provide alternatives that will permit ALL of our community to remain as one!

I have been hearing from so many of you who are worried about losing the connections that make our school feel like home. Behind the scenes I am gathering these stories to show the district that our community is more than just data points on a map. We are keeping the pressure on because our children deserve to stay with the friends and teachers they have come to rely on.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that the bonds we have built at Beverly Cleary are worth fighting for. These names represent real families who refuse to see their support systems dismantled by arbitrary lines on a map.

Scenario 1 addresses BCS's current 3 campus problem with a 3 campus solution (Hollyrood, Laurelhurst, BC MS). Seeing RCP re-open as a k-5 (housing former BCS students) feeding BC MS and Grant HS keeps these students together. Please keep cohorts together!
Our family would like to keep Beverly Cleary as a community. We recognize that the middle school model would be best for students and we recommend that Rose City Elementary become a K-5 for Beverly Cleary. Our community already experienced terrible disruption when Rose City was closed, we want to see our school community stay together and not go through that neighborhood divisiveness again.
Listening to other communities wanting to stick together, made me wonder why ours wasn't. This is a step in the right direction. It gives the feel of community that was missing from our school since the 2 scenarios came out. It's important to put ourselves in each other's shoes and look at best for all, not just some.
The numbers to move our community north of 47th to Madison don't add up. If you want to improve the quality of Madison consider your hiring and transfer policies, your educator effectiveness tools and leadership quality.
(Dad to grade 8 & grade 6 boys. Like everyone else, we want the community we've been a part of for the past 9 years to stay together. More importantly, we want to see our children have the opportunity to remain with their community.)
Right now my kids can bike quickly to a great school, and that could all change. Let's keep the boundaries where they are.

We bought our house because of the tiny communities of BC and Grant high school. Please keep this community together- so much has been done and so much can be done with strong community support.
