Keep Toddlers Safe! Say NO to Reckless Proposal for Childcare at DANGEROUS Intersection!

I strongly oppose the proposed daycare at 32 Harney Road. This location sits on a dangerous intersection in Eastchester, already congested with cut-through traffic and posing daily risks to drivers and pedestrians. Adding a childcare facility here is not only unsafe but reckless, especially with plans to place a play area near the street. This is a residential neighborhood, and a for-profit business does not belong here. The zoning exists for a reason, and this proposal, already rejected before, must be denied again. The community has spoken clearly: this plan threatens safety, violates zoning, and disregards the well-being of both children and residents.

I strongly oppose this request. This intersection is already very problematic at all times of the day and adding an influx of cars, especially carrying small children is a recipe for disaster.

I am a resident of Scarsdale Avenue. Our neighborhood is residential - not commercial. This business is not looking to be part of the Green Knolls/Greenvale neighborhood. As it is, drivers from outside the neighborhood use Downer Avenue as a cut-thru. Adding a business in that location will only compound the problem.

Any potential for increased traffic in an already extremely dangerous intersection that is used as a cut thru in addition to commuters both walking and driving should be denied. This is a danger to children, parents not to mention residents of green knolls.

I strongly oppose this application and request the Town of Eastchester Planning Board reject the matter.

This is not the place for a business like this. It will cause traffic issues and above all danger to the small children attending the day care.

I am opposed to the appeal made by the Day Care Center on Harney Rd. The issues the Planning Board cited for denied the original application have not been addressed. This is a very busy and dangerous intersection. Adding congestion of cars picking up kids to the entrance to our neighborhood during rush hour is a problem. Putting the playground in the front yard at a very busy intersection is not a good idea. They are also proposing to add parking spaces. One driveway leads into Harney Rd., having cars backing out and entering at that intersection during rush hour would be dangerous. The back up of cars there during rush hour is already significant and it is hard to get through the intersection and get into the neighborhood during those times of day.

That intersection is so busy to begin with. This will cause more accidents , traffic and congestion for our community. Please do not pass this request. This community is for living and feeling safe. But for a house to run as a business

I strongly oppose this commercial day care business locating in our residential neighborhood at this high traffic intersection.

The location for the proposed childcare facility, even as an intermittent one, is not safe nor practical given the challenges if the intersection. Strongly oppose this proposal.

An organization that would make this proposal is not an organization that can be trusted with the care of children.

I have many friends living in Green Knolls so I know this intersection well. It is clear to me that this is NOT an appropriate place for the usage being requested. They should look elsewhere. Common sense.

This house is by no means s place to have a daycare. In the corner of a very busy intersection.

Our community has overwhelmingly opposed the use of the premises as a daycare facility with clear-headed objections to the safety of young children. In addition, outdoor play areas have not been altered to assure safety for youngsters. We urge the Board to deny the applicant their appeal.

It would honestly be difficult to pick a worse location for a day care in Eastchester than the proposed site. The intersection, with Scarsdale Ave, Harney, and Downer all converging, already has more than enough going on (especially at rush-hour times) without parents coming and going with little children. This is a recipe for disaster. It’s a case where the land-use restrictions exist, and should remain in force, for very good reasons.

Dangerous location near day long busy traffic.
