this is heartless, re-homed dogs are never the same after being placed elsewhere. doing this to a senior dog is cruel and un-needed if they are in a healthy & loving environment. the law is some made up regulation on paper, theres no reason to do this to this family. yes dogs are considered part of a family. ridiculous this even has to be petitioned. grow a conscience.

Cut the red tape. Councils are not a requirement anyway 3 levels of Government is one too much

The council needs to show some compassion- rehoming ageing dogs is hard at the best of times. These dogs would suffer terrible anxiety and as the vet said be likely to be out down. Given the ‘rules’ around development which are crazy but makes loads of money I think they could show some leeway in this case.

This is appalling conduct by Hume council. These beautiful dogs have been with their family since birth, they cannot be separated, that would be inhumane.

There are many factors to consider - are the pets disrupting the neighbourhood? Has the owner received noise pollution complaints? Do the pets have adequate space to live healthy in a residential space? What is the basis of the council issues? Why has the council approved in previous years and not in 2019? Other way you can’t just come up with a rule unless there is a valid reason(s) for the exclusion.

This action is both unacceptable and distressing for the elderly dogs the other dogs in the family and their owners. If there is a need for the owners to get permission to have extra dogs and this is given then at no time in the future should this be able to be withdrawn. Show some compassion.
