Keep The YMCA Open

Cutting costs on this vital service will undoubtedly impact on the most vulnerable people needing the services the Worcester YMCA offer. Without these essential services the wide reaching devastation that could occur does not bear thinking about. The very people that need protecting & safety will undoubtedly be put at more risk. The wide reaching impact on public services is something I hope the Councillors considering these cuts have really thought about. As a healthcare professional myself working in acute services I am under no illusion what a disastrous decision this could prove to be. I urge Councillors to think long & hard about these proposals, either that or prepare to trawl the streets of our faithful city with Paramedics administering emergency first aid or worse still helping lift lifeless bodies into the back of ambulances.

I can't believe the council are being so short sighted and not looking at the long term future for the area. Without the YMCA the drain on resources to other agencies WILL be catastrophic. Once again the most disadvantaged people in our community are being put most at risk. Will these councillors be happy to step over people sleeping in the High Street as they do their Xmas shopping next year?

The YMCA should be kept open as they give so many people a helping hand when they need it.

We, the WYM'Pic Games team firmly believe that the YMCA is the core to Community Cohesion in Worcestershire and we do not want to see this jeopardised.

This organisation means so much to me and does not deserve to be threatened with cuts or reduction of service. I love the YMCA, because it's more than just the song...

The proposed reduction in funding to the most vulnerable groups within our County will result a marked cost consequence to all of the Counties authorities and services. Those who currently receive support to remain independent or regain their independence will no longer remain safe in our communities or be able to maintain their independence. The impact of the proposed reduction in funding from the County will be born by Social care, NHS and potential loss of life. I firmly believe that if the proposed reductions are realised the loss of services within the County will lead to Worcestershire becoming a national disgrace.

The proposed possible cuts will have a detrimental effect on all service users and associated agencies. I personally feel that the authorities are not considering the bigger picture - prospective situation in the longer term and are focusing on the short term financial gains in making these proposed cuts. I feel that it is likely that we shall be in far worse position than we are currently in the longer term. This would mean that persons are likely to be dealt with on a reactive rather than a pro-active basis which is likely to cause implications both financially and in respect of services available for the homeless to access as some if not the majority may have folded by then.

The YMCA carries out some great work, especially around health promotion. I am aware cuts need to be made, but it would be a shame if any health prevention work was reduced due to the financial benefits this can have, especially with young people.

The YMCA has and continues to support thousands of vulnerable young people across Worcestershire, it would have such a negative impact if we didnt serve the community and support the young people of today in their transition of our adults tomorrow.

We know there is not enough money in the pot to fund as we have done before but why do the most vulnerable suffer the most with each funding cut. This is a priority funding stream ...its not only a false economy its just wrong.

I feel costs saved will be passed onto other service and cost more overall in the longterm.

I have a background in caring for child and young people and feel it is essential the YMCA operates at its current level.

There is fantastic work carried out at Worcestershire YMCA on a daily basis that makes significant differences to the lives of people in Worcestershire. This work needs to be maintained and not reduced.
