As a 1984 graduate of Walker High School, my son will graduate 2017, Walker is our history, we still live here, pay taxes here, it is still daily life. My youngest son 6th grade now, may not get to join in our history. Here is my question, WHY?

I know change is good sometimes to move into the future, but taking away something that has meant pride honor and respect to so many for so long is senseless. It is not just a name! You want people to think of us in a positive way, you want to draw people here with a big city school well then make sure this is the safest most efficient school with happy involved staff and happy students. I guarantee you all of that combined with the honor of being a WALKER VIKING will get more people's attention than Jasper High School in a big building will !!!!!!!!!!

Too many generations that have gone through the halls of Walker County High School. It's a symbol of these alumni from 50+ years, and you want to change the name of a landmark! How DARE you think these things are left up to just a few "elite" of Jasper. The only recognition Jasper will get will be NEGATIVE! I'm always hearing how Jasper is "growing", please! Car lots and cheap restaurants that citizens think are tops. No. Jasper is tied up at the seams, and the citizens are doing nothing, basically because no one on the city board cares. Mules? Murals on buildings, really? Let's Go To Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Cullman and spend our money. There is nothing to do here, nothing. And don't tell me if I don't like it, I can move. How about the greedy city council move. We have no theater, the mall is a joke, and the police are corrupt. No, Walker County High School is OUR school, period.
