Robert E Lee was a man of higher character than most of the, so called, leaders today. Why should we condemn him while we DO NOT condemn the likes of Hollywood stars, Congressmen and Congresswoman who spit on our flag and our Country? Why should we try to re-write history because it feels good? Re-writing history to make it more politically correct does not change it, it just hides the truth from our children and all who follow is. It is just WRONG!

Do not change the name. Robert E Lee is part of our History. We should be mature enough to handle it. History is replete man's struggles. What are we to do, erase it all?

Where will it stop? George Washington was also a slave owner. Will we next change the name of our nations capitol? History must be preserved (both the bad and the good) otherwise, we may repeat it.

For Americans to do this is disgraceful and so destructive of what makes America the great nation it is. All of these are the remembrance of what America has disevolved.

Our country is listening to the few and not the many. The ones wanting to re-name know nothing of Gen. Lee and his many accomplishments before civil war. He was torn between the US and his State (Virginia). Times were very different back then. Before you start condemning at least know the facts.

If someone honestly studies the history and personal character and writing of Robert E. Lee, there is no reason to remove his name from a school or any monument. He was not a racist or hateful person.

Ms. Gist you and the School Board and staff should "tend to your knitting." The children and their academics are crucial. So you are not "cutting" it. So stop the distraction. This is not is your business.

If we start caving to people who are offended, we'll need to sandblast monuments in DC and implode our monuments because they pay tribute to slave owners. Enough is enough.
