I've lived in West Virginia almost my intire life and I know that Stonewall Jackson was a great general. The reason for the school being named after him was for that purpose, not for racial discrimination. Being in the navy I am around all walks of life, and I see no reason why the name of a school has anything to do with racial discrimination. If the people lobbying for the schools name to be changed actually knew history, they would know that George Washington, our first president, had slaves. Every major power in the world that has ever been a real power have had slaves. If you want to change the name of this school, then you should also lobby to take down the pyramids; they were built by hundereds of thousands of slaves.

I am not a grad from there but my first husband was as was his daughter. The West Side of Charleston has been fairly quiet lately so why is someone starting something that will inflame racial issues? Relax and enjoy the good things in life while you are here, people! Keep S J 's name!

This is bullshit, to change the name of this school. In this day and age, everything is going to offend someone. Everyone just needs to get over themselves, bite the big one, and leave things alone.
