I see no just cause to alter the name. Stonewall Jackson himself was a highly acclaimed educator and his legacy of passion for education to All (yes, all. He was a Sunday school teacher for an all black Presbyterian church) should live on.

My grandfather was part of the first graduating class at STONEWALL. Since then my mother, my father and I have been Generals. Leave things alone.

What's with all the stupid people who want to change the name. It has nothing to do with you, you just want something to complain about. Leave it be. The people who went to school there are very proud of their school being named after one of our greatest hero's.

This name has stood proudly on this school since 1939 (76 years) great school, great athletic teams, great students and teachers. Proud to be a graduate of the class of 1955.

As a Stonwall Alumni I think that the name should stay the same.

This is absurd. Do you really want to resort to the Stalinist tactic of erasing history. I wonder if the School board realize that Stonewall Jackson taught slave children in his own school....which was against the law?

After all these years someone is just now offended by the name of this school. This is just ridiculous and these cry babies need to grow up.

Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson was a very accomplished and esteemed man, both in his personal life and in his professional life. He was instrumental in organizing, in 1855, Sunday school classes for black children. His wife, Mary Anna Jackson, taught there with him. His career as a professor at the Virginia Military Institute sheds light upon his military brilliance and his desire to teach others the knowledge and wisdom he had gained. His actions in battles such as Chancellorsville, Virginia, are still studied, worldwide, in military colleges, today. It is a great honor to have your school named after one of America's greatest heroes of history, Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson.

It's not the name it's the people who are at fault. That was my school Ravel loved when the Wall and High came together it was some great times we had.

This is too ridiculous to even need a petition. I graduated from Sherman High, named after General George T. Sherman. I would certainly hate to see its name changed. There are too many other important issues without fueling someone's 10 minutes of fame.

No. There are too many people out there trying to make too many changes that are not necessary.
