I am not a Byrnes fan but I do think this caring things a bit to far. Years ago they had to change their mascot from the Rebel let them keep their school name.

This is ridiculous ..bulldog offends me so let's change that and cavalier how about that too and his about Chapman panthers it sounds like a black cat I may be scared of those or it make stand for black people Since it's panther associated

Let go and let it be! We have been here generation after generation and proud of it. We have stayed here and raised our children here because we are proud of being "Byrne's Rebels". Not having anything to do with race at all. We have all worked hard supporting our school whether it was being on the football team, in the band, baseball team, or just academically and becoming a supportive community and don't need some group of people who aren't from here, never had family from here and don't even know us coming here and tearing us down just because they want to get rid of a WORD!!! REBEL... that's really all it boils down to. We are a community of supportive people, whites, blacks, etc., who are proud of who we are, that's all! The ones who are trying to make claims of racism, are actually the real racist! There are much larger problems in this awful world today than what a school mascot is so let go and let us be!
