Husband is a proud 1993 grad. I know he will sign, too. Enough is enough. You can't remove hate and ignorance from people. History is history, people. If you read the books, there were WAY more black slave owners than white and they were horrid and cruel comparatively to whites. And the war was not about slavery only, it was about industrialization, taxation without representation and the south wasn't going to be apart of it without a fair say. Come on, people, READ A BOOK!

This is insane. I am proud to have graduated from Byrnes and have never heard anyone mention the mascot being offensive. People need to stop nitpicking over every little thing! Even if the name is changed, there will always be something else people will be annoyed or offended by. Plus, as someone previously said it will cost a lot to change merchandise, repainting fields, floors and walls. This is just ridiculous.

This is getting out of hand. Nobody that I went to school with, regardless of race, every mentioned anything about our mascot being offensive. The groups trying to remove EVERYTHING remotely close to anything controversial are the real racists
