Please keep the Music block the same size as it is now. So many of us use it every morning. I do my music practice there; it is like a second home.
With an extra building for Sixth Formers, why do we need to deplete the music department of facilities. Why have the parents not been consulted at all about this? Please revisit this decision made under a previous autocratic administration.
Build a proper gym for all in a sensible place and don't destroy the music department. If done properly it could even pay for itself and even make money if that is the issue: other schools run gym membership for out of hours use and Summertown is not oversupplied with gyms.
OHS should be safeguarding its provision of music, not eroding it. Music is already nearly non-existent in the state sector. There are ample sports facilities already in the school. I hope this decision can be reversed
I fully support this petition, as does my daughter who is very cross about this plan. I believe it will be very damaging to the nurturing of musicians and musical theatre and all creative arts in the school - all things that were important to us when choosing OHS.
It would be useful if parents would be consulted when making plans for the music department.

Music and fitness are both important, but to sacrifice a space that can benefit the whole school in order to provide facilities that only the sixth form can use sounds like a poor use of resources. I hope adequate provision of practice rooms and rehearsal spaces will be provided elsewhere if this does go ahead.
