I believe our history is what made us who we are today and we can't change that with tearing down all the statues. We as people choose how we behave and conduct ourselves not a statue.

When I drive by this I don't feel pride or celebrate the man, but I see a part of history in our young counties life, we may look back and not agree with what their beliefs were but shaped it to what it is. I'm curious is to why this is just now being attacked ? Opportunism for the mayor to get in on main stream media narratives ?

I've heard a lot of "stop the hate" comments in the media lately. And I agree. We really need to. But it seems this ideal is being applied very selectively by the multitude of special interest groups out there. So, let me point out something that should be obvious. To deny a people their history (good or bad), is a form of hate. To deny someone their heritage, is a form of hate. To destroy statutes and artifacts in an attempt to erase the struggles that define us, is a form of hate. To believe others views are inferior because they are not same as yours, is a form of hate. To be guilty of the very accusations of intolerance that you level against others, is a form of hate. The hypocrisy displayed by so many on the Left is astounding.

It's history, not hate. What has happened to people? Everything offends somebody, so tear everything down? What's next and when does it stop?
