Because there weren't enough students who registered, Brad Lemack's course The Business of Acting is NO LONGER being offered at Emerson's Los Angeles campus in the fall. For those of us who have taken, or are currently taking this class, we know just how IMPORTANT the lessons we have learned from Brad are to survive in the entertainment industry!!

PLEASE SIGN this petition to KEEP The Business of Acting at Emerson, and hopefully we can get this truly exceptional class back at the LA campus. This class is the most important one I have taken in 4 years at Emerson, and I know many of my classmates feel the same!

Brad was and IS still instrumental in my life and career. Without his class, myself and my fellow artists would have been wading in a sea without lifejackets. Keep this class. It is crucial.

I have been waiting to take this class since my senior year of high school, upon reading Brad's renowned books. When I learned of this class at the ELA campus from reading his book I completely restructured my Emerson career in order to be able to go to LA as a BFA Acting major and take his class. I am finally achieving that dream and going this summer, and now I am truly heart broken and will do anything to have this class back and learn the same things that many of my peers have been afforded the opportunity to learn over the past couple of years. I believe every Emerson Acting major deserves this experience.

Brad creates a unique environment in the Business of Acting class. He made us feel comfortable and brought us together as a group. I learned so much about the industry and what it takes to make it as an actor or any kind of artist in Los Angeles. Without this class, and without Brad, my time at ELA would have lacked direction. ELA doesn't offer much to acting students. There are two classes geared specifically toward acting majors and it would be ridiculous to get of either of them. Turning the class into a "business of the business" class would detract so much from what the class is about and the safe space that is created.

Going to Emerson LA was one of the most fulfilling semesters I spent at Emerson College. I learned so much, and somehow even in this sprawling, depressing city I felt at home. I owe most of that to Brad Lemack. He helped myself and my classmates get through feeling out of place and anxious in this new environment. He taught us what we actually needed to know to survive in LA, and showed us the reality of what we were up against in whilst also maintaining a safe space. Cutting this class it a terrible idea. Cutting any Brad Lemack class is a terrible idea.

Brad Lemack is awesome and cares about the future of his students. Wiping a class off the face of Emerson because of ONE registration semester is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Brad was a fantastic acting teacher in my UCB class and his business of acting class spilled over into it, enriching our curriculum. It is obvious that he brings something to the table that other professors cannot, and if you take away the practical classes like this at Emerson, you're breeding nothing but a bunch of kids ho only know skills in THEORY.

This class was by far my greatest educational tool at Emerson. Without it, and without Brad, I would not have had the tools and resources to smoothly transition into the industry. It is essential for every performance major's Emerson experience.
