TCAT has provided such a valuable service educating people in BSL and thus broadening the social network for both deaf and hearing people. The loss of BSL courses at TCAT will have a significant impact on the deaf community in Shropshire - I wonder if other modern languages are also at risk as a result of the cuts? Please do not let this vital provision be cut from your range of courses on offer.

I think everyone should learn how to sign. It's a shame if this ends

Using BSL is so important to those who use it. Imagine not being to be able to communicate verbally, BSL is a necessity to Children and adults to communicate effectively without the use of speech

It would be a real shame if we lost BSL in Telford

Losing BSL as a course would be a clear message that those who exist in the deaf world are of no value at all. BSL is a very important course; TCAT has an amazing teacher; and the worth of TCAT will be measured by whether they keep or stop the BSL courses.

This is our language. They probably won't cut French, Spanish, Germany and other language course but British Sign Language ? This is why we asked for law to protecting British Sign Language. if we have those law they won't cut it.

Because I'm involved in the deaf community, I'm deaf aware and because deaf people have a beautiful language that everyone can learn! Deaf people deserve equality just like every other person...they just don't get it and that's not right or equal!

Signing isn't a luxury, it's an essential skill and really important for people like me who depend on BSL everyday

Courses such as this are invaluable at a time when a higher percentage of the population is hard of hearing and likely to consider this as a useful addition to their communication ability

You don't have to be deaf to want to learn BSL. Attending Sign Language classes is a first rate way of increasing Deaf Awareness and communication skills for all ages and abilities.

BSL users are one of the groups that experience inequality most. More people should be learning basic BSL, not fewer.
