Thousands of misguided parents are signing a petition to sway Wake County Public Schools to eliminate on-campus School Resource Officers (SRO's), and we must make our voices heard, as well. It would be an enormous mistake to rid our schools of this valuable protection!
SRO's ensure schools are safe places for students to learn. SRO's provide a highly visible presence to deter or identify trespassers on campus, thus keeping guard over the safety of our children at school. They are responsible for working in tandem with school administrators, staff and faculty to develop and enact comprehensive safety plans to abate all threats.
SRO's cultivate and maintain relationships with the students. They are role models and leaders, mentoring students with whom they interact.
SRO's have the training, knowledge and experience to handle a vast assortment of situations both inside and outside the school building. Without their valuable presence on campus, our children will be at risk. We must prevent that, and keep SRO's on our children's campuses!

My family was SRO for Raleigh and made a huge positive impact on the school and the students. KEEP THEM IN!!
SRO’s need to be in our schools. They provide a sense of peace and safety in our schools. WCPSS high schools ha e so much violence and fighting, who is goi g to handle this?
as a therapist i have first hand seen the benefits of SROs in schools. Do not do this to our young ppl. Initial exposure to police and development of relationships with them in their schools is amazing
SRO’s are so valuable to a school-starting at the elementary level. We must acknowledge and prepare for, too, that after being out of school for months, when students do return, there will be increased behavioral and social challenges that SRO’s will be able to assist with.
My kids at Apex Friendship High love the SRO's there, and as a parent I feel SAFER sending my kids to high school with SROs on campus. So, I see SRO's as a good thing and a safety issue for our children!
I cannot believe I’m actually having to sign a petition for this. What the hell is happening to our county?

Have we forgotten about Sandy Hook and Columbine and how hard we had to work to get SRO's in schools? Our children's safety needs to come first!!
