Plans are in place to remodel our fishing holes by removing trees and grass and replacing them with desertscape. This petition is to stop that from happening.

Updates

August 26, 2016

I spent the morning down at the lake watching the birds in the canopy and it is impossible to imagine this place without those trees. I am currently reaching out to the council members to show them exactly what we stand to lose if they replace our natural shade with gravel.

August 26, 2016

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only one who cherishes our fishing holes in their natural state. These trees have provided shade for my own family for decades and I am overwhelmed that so many of you feel the exact same way.

Leave the green! This IS the desert and the rocks retain the heat, making it unbearable. Rocks are not safe for children to play on and unsteady for some our residents to walk on. The so called "jewel of the high desert" is beginning to look like a rock quarry.

I like to take my dogs to the shady parts around the lake when we walk. Please keep the trees and grass. I have no trees or grass at my house for the dogs.

We have ab out 14 fishing holes? Redoing all these holes is a single project, not 14 individual projects, so, "What is the total cost?" Does the total cost require Membership approval? (Over 5% of the budget year that project began)

There are several native trees that require little water. The Victor Valley College Agriculture and Natural Resource Department might be able to partner with us on a plan.

There have already been several changes to the fishing locations. PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE ANY MORE OF THEM. We really need to have some green spaces in our community, especially with homeowners being strongly encouraged to change their lawns to desert/zero-scaping.

I'm all for improvements, but not total elimination of a small grassy spot to lounge and picnic with grand kids while others fish. It's just too hot to be completely surrounded by rock and gravel.
