The urban suburban program is pure and simple a money grab, ineffective and is racially bias, therefore should have never been considered in the first place. the people of Spencerport struggled and worked to earn the right to live in this district and so should everyone else who wants their children to go to school here. no school should support such a program its just another form of welfare and will only serve to bring the quality of education down in our district. the city school districts carry the same programs our schools have what makes the Spencerport school board think our teachers are better than city school teachers if a child wants to learn they will learn in any enviroment regardless of school districts

THANK YOU SPENCERPORT FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
We have been heard and the Board is delaying the vote until the district has had more time to discuss this program.
I have closed this petition until further notice as a dialogue has now been established between the Board and the community it represents. Thank you for showing us that our concerns deserve consideration.
It is critical that we all still come together this Tuesday, December 9th at Munn to further the currently established dialog. If we have enough supporters here Tuesday (and I know we will!) then we may have the opportunity for another public forum.
Thank you all!

This is not a fair program and it will cost the taxpayers more money. The district gets state aid for each student and we pay school taxes on top of that. Who is going to pay the school taxes that would normally be generated from a in-district studen'ts household?

I moved out of Gates-Chili because of this program. I do not want this to happen. If you want your children to attend suburban school then they can move and pay the schools taxes like I do! We are a small close community and that's hard to find. Exposing are children to this will not help their education. Instead keep the kids in third urban schools and send them the extra money. You can not transport all of the city kids in the suburban school. This will ruin our community. It did that to Gates-Chili. People moved out of that town because of it.

The west Irondequoit school budget did not pass this year....because (largely) families are leaving. I am a graduate of West Irondequoit and I no longer recognize the area. surprisingly, it has been the district with the longest-standing relationship with the program in our area. The community has deteriorated. Community is what we are looking to preserve.

My wife and I chose to live in Spencerport because of the excellent school system. PLEASE do not allow outside students to alter the culture of the school. I graduated from Olympia High School. I would never send my kid there. It's too dangerous and violent. Things have changed. Let's reserve Spencerport schools for Spencerport kids. We have established a positive culture in our school. Let's keep it that way.

The real issue is what this does to the city school district. If we continue to pick out there highest performers then is there any doubt they will continue to struggle with attendance and graduation rates?

This decision shouldn't be made by school board members alone. It should be a district wide decision. I hope all attend the meeting to voice their opinions.

I live in West Irondequoit and don't feel the urban/suburban program is a problem. West Irondequoit has participated for years, and consistently rates highly among districts. I think one of the points of the program is to increase diversity, which is why white students can't come to the suburbs. On the other hand, I believe white students from the suburban schools could go to a city school, such as school of the arts. My kids are just about done with school, and we have never had any problems. You don't know who is or is not a participant. I will say, most problem kids that I know of, actually live in the district. So, if possible, give it a chance.
