My daughter cannot attend my son’s elementary school because there isn’t enough space. She is on the waitlist but not being given priority because it is not our zoned school. (We are in district, though.) I cannot be in two places at the same time for drop-off and pick-up. In case of emergency, which child do I pick up first? How can I choose? I am asking that the NYC Department of Wducation re-evaluate their policies and grandfather siblings. Also, there is severe overcrowding in the city and there aren’t enough classes to accommodate all the children. Non-citizens who live in the school’s zone are getting seats before in-district citizens. Please sign my petition so that the DOE will re-evaluate their policies and add classes!
