Hard to see the reason behind the decision without any home talent pushing for a starting place. Surely a far better influence on developing talent with ruan there than not.

Paddy Jackson has benefitted from playing alongside this world class player. Unfortunately Paul Marshall is our next best 9. He is not being blocked by RP, he simply is not good enough, through no fault of his own. Merely just nowhere near the standards set by RP.
Our young IQ SHs will benefit more from getting tutored close hand by RP over the next 2-3 years, rather than an inferior IQ player.

Cutting Ruan Pienaar loose defies all logic. He is not holding back the development of any young IQ scrumhalf because there are none ready for professional rugby. There are two young guys both of whom are a couple of years from being ready to step into a professional team. Ruan is the perfect mentor for these guys, but no Nucifora knows better.

Totally disgraceful behaviour by the IRFU . The Irish rugby union needs to realise the world doesn't revolve around Munster and Leinster
